Faryl Smith Concert

The growth of the festival has resulted in a multi day event spanning the whole weekend of the 5-6th November 2011 and is now not only a Choral Competition but a celebration of music held at Venue Cymru in Llandudno, North Wales.

With the help of title sponsor Stena Line, organisers Conwy County Borough Council are pleased to announce a concert on the Saturday evening by Britain’s Got Talent finalist Faryl Smith and guest artists, string quartet Raven.

At the age of 12, Faryl Smith “sang her way in to Britain’s front rooms” on the popular programme Britain’s Got Talent and went on to signing the “largest record deal ever awarded to a schoolgirl”.  Her debut album “Faryl became the fastest-selling classical debut album in chart history” and in 2009, she was awarded Classical Performer of the Year.

Supporting her are RAVEN, Stephanie Benedetti, Natalie Holt, Rachael Lander and Kirsty Mangan, formed in 2007.  Disillusioned with the traditional background role of the string quartet and frustrated with tired old repertoire, the girls wanted to reinterpret popular classical tunes and revolutionise the way they are performed”.  Three months after forming, Raven found themselves performing to millions of viewers as the resident string quartet on BBC’s Maestro, to the Royal Albert Hall, and last year as far as Tokyo, Japan.  Recently, Raven have enjoyed a number of widely received live performances backing Ellie Goulding.

Also supporting Faryl Smith is Welsh singer Lucy Kelly.  Lucy Kelly is 13 years old and is from Anglesey. She has been singing since she was six.  She has performed at many prestigious venues such as The Royal Albert Hall, Wales Millennium Centre and has appeared on numerous television and radio programmes in Wales and recorded her first CD, Llais o Baradwys/Voice From Paradise.

Tickets are available from the Venue Cymru box office (01492 872000) at the following prices:

Competition: Adults £5, Junior (u18) £2.50 (Saturday 5 November (10am-5pm) & Sunday 6 November (12pm – 4pm)
